Valtournenche, known worldwide for the majestic and distinctive pyramid of the Matterhorn rising to an altitude of 4478 m, borders Switzerland to the north and the Val d’Ayas to the east.<\/p>

The valley is crossed by the Marmore creek, which originates from the glaciers at the foot of the Matterhorn and feeds the artificial Goillet Lake.<\/p>

Other water surfaces worth discovering include Lake Blu, located just before the village of Cervinia<\/b>, the artificial Lake Cignana<\/b>, the three Balanselmo lakes<\/b>, Lake Tsan<\/b>, and Lake Lod<\/b>.<\/p>

Also worth visiting is the Neolithic settlement located at the altitude of 2400m at the foot of Mont Tantan\u00e9 (2734 m).<\/p>

The enchanting Cheneil basin<\/b> is another highlight, offering ascents to Mont Roisette (3324 m) or Grand Tournalin (3379 m).<\/p>

In summer, in addition to mountaineering\u2014with the Matterhorn being an internationally destination, trekking and hiking take place in environments of extraordinary beauty<\/b>.<\/p>

The area is home to numerous alpine huts, such as the Barmasse and the Guide del Cervino refuges.<\/p>

The guesthouse Bellevue<\/b>, located in the village of Chamois, is part of the Tour des Six route. Chamois is the only Italian village accessible exclusively by cable car or on foot<\/b>.<\/p>

Other popular sports include paragliding, mountain biking, and sport climbing on both natural and artificial equipped walls.<\/p>
